Van Cleef in New York is a clean masculine fragrance that layers scintillating citrus and marine accords over subtly sensuous musk, wood and amber to create a deceptively understated composition of timeless elegance. The opening notes are a bright blend of tart-sweet mandarin and lemon fused with cooling aquatic tones. Brisk herbal and aromatic notes emerge as the scent settles, mingling peppery sage and light wood with licorice-tinged lavender and subtle musk. The final dry down combines the bittersweet almond and tobacco nuances of tonka bean with warm amber for a smooth, balanced finish.

Released in 2016, In New York was composed by perfumer Sonia Constant for the French luxury brand Van Cleef & Arpels. Originally exclusively a fine jewelry and watch house, the company was founded in 1896 by the two eponymous brothers-in-law. The label’s breakthrough fragrance, First for Women, was launched with great success in 1978, and the brand continues to produce exquisite scents for women and men.
